Official Lanwar Team Fortress 2 Source Tourney Rules v1.2

Tournament Overview

Event:  Lanwar

Tourney Times: Friday 12:00 Noon to 12 midnight

Location: Louisville, KY

Bracket Type: Single elimination

Start Times

Team Captains need to meet with the Tourney Admins at 11:15AM on the day of the tournament. Roll will be called. IF the team captain is not at the Roll Call by 11:30, that team will be disqualified. Team seeding will be chosen by random drawing during roll call. The first matches in the first round will begin at 1PM, and teams should be ready to start at that time. Four servers will be provided by Lanwar to run four matches (8 teams) at a time. First Round teams will be given start times at Roll Call and will be expected to be ready to play at their allotted time.

Game Notes

This tournament is being held in the “BYOC” section of the event. As such, it is a play-at-your-own-risk tournament. If any prospective player feels uncomfortable about participating in the tournament, it is their responsibility to decide whether or not to join the tournament. It is not the responsibility of the staff to accommodate every whim and preference of each individual participant.

Rosters

All team rosters are established during the registration period prior to the start of the event. Changes to team rosters may take place during the registration period. Teams are required to have the minimum number of members required to play a match to be considered and ACTIVE team. For MML, the minimum number of players is FOUR (4) per team.

Game Start Times

Brackets and match start times will be available and updated throughout the tournament by the Admins. If you have questions, contact Francopoli for more information.

Players should ensure that they are in the dedicated server on time and ready to begin. Game times will be posted in the Hall. Teams have Ten (10) minutes after the agreed upon (or default) time to join the server. After Ten (10) minutes have passed, both teams must have the minimum allowable amount (4) players each in the server. Forcing a team to wait for players is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. If a team is unable to field at least the minimum number of players within ten (10) minutes of the start time, they will forfeit the match. If needed, players should have their input devices reset and systems rebooted before their start times.

Team Make Up

·         Each team must have a team captain.

·         Only the team captain can register a team, modify a team, or remove a team from the on-line tourney signups.

·         Team captains must ensure that all players on their team have read and follow these rules.

·         Each team must have 5 players.

·         Each team can have 2 alternates.

·         The entire team roster must be picked in advance before tourney sign-ups are closed.

·         Players can only play on one team.

·         Alternates cannot be on another team or an alternate for another team.

·         Teams must have a unique name.

·         Tourney staff may not compete in the tourney.

Tournament Procedure

·         All players should be connected to the appropriate tourney server before their match starts.

·         Each team captain MUST REPORT to the TOURNEY ADMIN on-time for each of their matches.  You will have FIVE MINUTES to report.  If after 5 minutes the team captain is not at the tourney desk, your team will be disqualified.

·         If team captains cannot decide who will be CT or T first, a coin toss will decide who is counter-terrorist and who is terrorist.

·         Team captains must report their win or loss.

·         Tourney matches will not be held up due to personal computer problems.

·         If a player on your team is unable to play, the team can choose to play with four people.

·         We will make attempts to prevent matches from coinciding for players playing in more than one tournament.  If a player has two matches at the same time, they must forfeit out of one of the tournaments.

·         The tournament bracket is seeded randomly by the Lanwar Tourney staff.

·         After a player has died, the player must not communicate to other players on their team until the entire team has died.

·         All team members must already be in the appropriate tournament server at the match start time.

·         Any complaints with the match must be voiced calmly and professionally to the Tourney Director IMMEDIATELY.  If you don’t voice it then, you will have missed your chance to notify the tournament staff.  All complaints will ruled upon by the Tourney Director promptly.  The Tourney Director’s decision is final.

·         Any team caught cheating or even pretending to cheat will be disqualified.  This includes, but not limited to, wallhacks, aimbots, crash scripts, etc.

·         Match times will only be moved because of an internal problem with the tournament.  We will not move your match time because you forgot to use the bathroom ahead of time, or because you need to go to McDonalds because your mommy forgot to spoon feed you that morning.

Miscellaneous

·         By playing in this tournament all players agree to abide by these rules.

·         Each player gives full rights for Lanwar, Inc and its sponsors to use the player’s name, likeness, photographs, video, or electronic communication for all advertising or promotion purposes without the consent of the player.

·         All team players must be polite to the other teams, spectators, sponsors, press and ESPECIALLY the Staff and Burden’s wife and children.  BE WARNED: Lanwar has a zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior.  If a player on any team acts inappropriately, their team will warned.  If it happens again, your team will be disqualified from the tournament.  If it happens a third time, your team will be escorted out of the event and the entire team will be banned from all future events without a refund.  If you have a complaint about the tournament staff, or about how the projectors are being handled or any other problem, take your complaint directly and politely to Burden.

·         All players must be available for post tournament awards ceremonies, photographs, interviews etc.

·         The projector volume will be on during the tournament.  It will be kept at a medium level.  If you are concerned about the volume of the projector and how it will affect your teams play, then you MUST get high quality closed ear headphones.  The projector volume will not be adjusted down.  When polled 80% of Lanwar attendees preferred the projector sound level at a medium or higher level.

Game Specific Rules

Screenshots and Ends of Matches.

Each Team captain will be responsible for taking a screenshot of the scoreboard at the end of the match. An upload share will be made available for these screensshots. Each Screenshot will have the following naming convention: TEAM-ROUNDX.BMP or TEAM-ROUNDX.JPG. TEAM will be your Team's name, and the "X" will be replaced with the round's number. Each team captain has 30 minutes to upload the screen shot. The Winning team captain will notify the Tournament Admin that the match is over immediately upon completion.

The Unexpected and Unforeseen

In the event of a server crash, Team Captains should take immediate screen captures of the leader boards. If the match was within five (5) minutes of the start of the match, the whole match will be restarted from a score of 0-0.

In the event that a match, or matches, run longer than expected, there will be a minimum thirty (30) minute break between a team's matches.

Examples:

  • Switch, server, backbone etc. goes down -- Our Fault, restart per above
  • Your PC crashes – Sorry, play on
  • Your network cable is bad – Sorry, play on
  • Power failures will be inspected to determine fault.
  • If you plug into the wrong jack after we tell you where to plug in at, sorry.
