Whatever you need to game.  If participating in the official tourneys you will play on the tournament machines provided by the WSVG.

Yes!  If you have decided to bring your console instead of your PC then you need to bring everything.  By everything we mean your console, controllers/joysticks you use to play, ethernet & cabling to hook up, montior/tv to play on and your games.

Duct Tape Wars???
What in the @#$#@ is Duct Tape Wars? Each team of five gets one roll of duct tape and is asked to complete a challenge and compete against the other teams. Past challenges include:
o Build the tallest free standing structure
o Build the strongest bridge
o Build the strongest sword
o Build a soap box derby car

Remember you can only use the duct tape, the ink from a marker and spit. You cannot use the plastic wrap the duct tape came in or the cardboard roll it is wrapped around. You have to see it to believe it... its a lot fun.

How Large Is The Event?
We have room for about 2000+ gamers in the BYOC.  Last year's MillionManLan drew around 1,200 gamers in the BYOC and about 10,000 spectators.  But if you want to participate in the BYOC, you won't just be able to walk up when you get there, you must register in advance.  So register early and bring your friends.

How Much Does the Event Cost?
The Louisville event will cost $65.00.  This gets you access to all of the event.  You can get a seat in the BYOC, register for the official tourneys, participate in the fun events held in the BYOC and other locations, and soooo much more.

Massage Therapist???
Oh yeah. All of our events have a massage thearpist on site. Alexis usually arrives in the afternoon and stays until about midnight or so. She gives massages in a massage chair for $10 for 10 minutes. T R U S T M E... she is well worth it.

No Smoking
No smoking is permitted in the hall.  There are designated areas outside.

Official Tourneys
All official tourneys will be run by the WSVG.  Be sure to read all rules so as to not forfeit your spot in them.  The official tourneys will be posted once WSVG announces their 2007 season schedule.

What are the top mistakes attendees make?
Don't forget to bring your stuff. Review the check list twice. People ALWAYS FORGET mouse pads, patch cables, outlet strips or hardware drivers. Show up for the event and tournaments on time. Be sure to recheck the schedule one week before, one day before the convention.

Make sure your computer is working and that your ethernet card will get you on a network ahead of time.

If you are in a bad mood or like to complain, don't come. If you think the price is too much, don't come. Lastly, understand why we exist. The staff puts in hundreds of hours so fellow gamers can have fun, so take a moment to say "thanks".

What games will be played?

The staff runs will run some fun tourneys. Also, some attendees run their own unofficial tourneys.  Or you can just play in the 50-100 other games played during the event. You can always have the staff announce if you are starting up a new game, plus there are local IRC channels in the room. Game On!

What is Team Move/Team Seating

The gray seats are set aside for Team Seating. You can request to move all of your buddies into gray seating so they can all sit together once everyone is paid. All that is necessary is that you fill out the Team Move form.  The minimum for a group is two.

o Please understand we only move teams who ARE NOT already sitting together.
o We do not move anyone who has not paid.
o We cannot just set aside 20 seats for you. You need to get your friends to sign up, pay and then request the move.
o If you request 6 of your friends to move into gray seating and then another two at a later time, chances are that there will not be enough room for the remaining two.
o While you can request "where" in the gray seating you would like to sit, there are no guarantees. We rearrange the gray seating to accomodate as many groups as possible. It is more important for groups to sit together than where in the hall they sit.
o Moving Teams is a manual process and may take a few days to take effect. Please be patient.
o We process the team moves in the order we receive them.
o Each gamer receives an email that you requested their seat to be moved.
o When Gray Seating is all filled up, obviously there will be no more team moves.

Where is the event?

The event is held in Louisville, KY at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Food
Alcohol?
No alcohol is permitted at the event. If you want to go drink, there are plenty of bars in town. You are responsible for yourself.   No alcohol may be brought on or into the event.

Bawls?
Due to the Expo Centers regulations, we can not provide Bawls at the event. You can not bring cases in to sell. You can not sell them out in the parking lot. Doing so will get you removed from the event. But... you can bring some for your personal consumption, meaning you can bring some in for yourself. Note we say some, not a case or two or five. They must remain in your car/hotel.

Can We Bring Our Own Food/Drink?
The facility will be providing concessions inside the hall for those of you who bust into flames when exposed to light. For those of you that want something different there are plenty of restaurants around. Please eat what you have before arriving in the hall.

NO coolers will be permitted inside.
You CAN brown bag your meal.

In other words, if you plan to bring yourself some rations then keep the bulk of them in your car in the cooler if needed.  You can not bring in any food other than for yourself and not all of your food for the entire event at once.  So if you go to McDonalds for example, then yes you can bring in your meal.  Not your entire group's meal, just yours.

Coolers?
No coolers in the hall.  They are allowed to be kept in your car.

Other Food Alternatives
There are plenty of restaurants around. From fast food right outside the gate to lots restaurants all within 5 miles of the event. You're in one of the top 25 largest cities in the country, you figure it out.  Here is a sample, Burger King, Arby's, Cracker Barrel, McDonalds, Hooters, etc...plus major restaurant chains all within driving distance.

What food will be at the event?
The concession stands will be open with your typical sodas, chips, candy, popcorn, and hot dogs.  There will be additional vendors on site with pizza, hamburgers, etc.  If this doesn't meet your tastebuds, there are plenty of restaurants and fastfood outside the gates.  The closest being Burger King, Arby's, CrackerBarrel.  There are dozens more within a short drive.

Fun Tourneys
Unofficial Fun Tournaments
Unofficial Tourneys are tourneys run during the event by our staff or advid, adventurous gamers. While we welcome anyone to run one, we prefer gamers who have run tourneys before. You can run any game that you want, we only ask that you contact us well in advance to let us know the specifics to prevent overlapping of similar tournaments etc. To help out, we have a developed a section on the web site which will allow you to hold signups in advance. (This helps with rosters and bracketing.) All unofficial tourneys are strictly for fun. No fees or prizes are permitted.

Hall Details
24x7?
Of course.  What would MillionManLan be without all night partying?

Are Blimps Permitted?
Due to the regulations of the facility, no blimps or any other flying objects are allowed.

Can We Bring Tents Inside the Hall?
No tents are allowed in the hall. Regulations will not allow.

Facilities for RVs?

The Kentucky Expo Center does have hookups available. This is on a first come first serve basis. There is a cost of $45.00 per day electric(need reservation). Dry camping $25.00 per day. Fresh water is available for both at dumping station. For additional information on there facilities please contact Admission Control 502-367-5380. They handle all of this, including RV payments and reservations.

How Much Does Parking Cost?
Parking is $5 each time you come through the gates (unless you have a pass).   Gates are not necessarily manned 24/7, but if you come in through the day you will be charged.  We recommend that you keep your trips to a minimum and carpool with others to keep this cost down.  Also, depending on your hotel of choice, they may provide free shuttle service to the KEC.

Parking Passes will be available for purchase on Thursday and Friday for a short period of time for those of you who wish or need the availability of coming and going throughout the day.  $20 for the four days, $15 for three.

What about Resting?

Resting will be permitted in the hall in a designated area.  Blankets and a sleeping bag are recommended items to bring as it does get cold.

What do the colors on hall seating mean?
o Red = Your seat is paid and all is cool in the world.
o Light Green = This is seat open. It can be used to sign up a seat for yourself or to be put on hold as a friend reserve for your buddies.
o Dark Green = This is a friend reserve. Someone has reserved this seat and set it aside for their friend. Each friend reserve has its own passcode which the gamer who reserved it can use to give to his friends so they can take the seat. Friend Reserves expire if they are not used. The ability to do friend reserves is only available at the beginning of registration.
o Gray = These seats are set aside for team moves. Gamers who have seats, have paid but who are not currently sitting together can request a team move. The staff will then process the team move and move all of the gamers into the gray section thus freeing up their old seats on the floor. To request a Team Move select the form from hall chart
o Light Blue = Expansion Seating. For the larger events we have reserved huge amount of hall space. We don't open these seats until all of the regular seats are filled up and the majority of them are paid. These seats could be opened up for regular green seats or for gray team seating.
o Brown = A paid gamer would like to offer his seat up for a trade. You can click on the gamers seat that he is offering to see who he is willing to swap with. A series of emails notify both parties and nothing is moved until both gamers agree to the seat swap. The ability to trade seats is turned off a week or two before the event.

Will the facility be kept clean?
The facility sanitation staff will be on duty during the length of the event. Of course, the hall itself will be much cleaner if everyone picks up after themselves. (especially after 4 days)

Network
Can I bring a [insert ??] to plug into the network
No. Please do not bring hubs, switches, routers, repeaters, gender changers, or token rings to plug into the network. All ports for plugging your single PC into the network are supplied at the table and no additional hardware other than an RJ45 Category 5/5e/6 cable and appropriate NIC card are necessary. If you have a server system that you would like to hook into the network, it should be placed in "server row." To arrange placement of your server system, please contact a staff member upon arriving to find the location which we would like your server.
Additionally, server row may have a "denser" switch, so be sure to bring an extra long cable in the event your server will be far from the network switch it plugs into. At least 50 feet should do it. Server ports are generally switched 100 Megabit.

How long of an ethernet cable will I need?
Please bring the longest cable that you have, preferrably 25 feet or more. If the cable you bring is not long enough, hardware vendors will be available to sell you an inexpensive cable that will fit. Please save it for the next event!

How should I set my PC up so that I can be online
The MillionManLan network uses DHCP to distribute IP address information to participants. You should configure your computer's TCP/IP settings to "Obtain automatically from the network" (Windows) or "Use DHCP" (Mac OS X)

If you are still unsure what setting to use, post in the forums before the event. Someone there will be more than happy to help you. If you forget, don't worry, you can ask a knowledgable staff member when you arrive at MML and they will be more than glad to help you or point you in the right direction.

What if I don't have an ethernet card or patch cab
We will have local hardware vendors at the event. They will have ethernet cards, patch cables and other hardware and software for sell cheap. It would be MUCH prefered if you already have your ethernet card installed successfully. If not, we can help you, but still takes time away from the gaming.

What type/speed network port will I have?
The MillionManLan network consists of a Cisco Gigabit backbone with 100mb edge switches delivered to each gamer for high-speed and low pings. In game pings vary depending upon the game, most games average between 10-20ms, while Battlefield gets as low as 0 or 1ms.

Will there be an Internet Connection?
Yes. We pull in a fat pipe for the event.  The network is shaped to give favor to gaming.  You will be able to surf, read email etc.  But the goal is low pings.

Will there be IRC at the event?
Yes. All of our events host an in-room IRC server farm: irc.lanwar.lan

Power
Can I bring a UPS?
No, No and Hell No. Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPSs) are absolutely not allowed at the event. UPSs draw a substancial power and will blow a circuit. We then will find it (of course) and everyone around you on that circuit will know you broke the rules and took them down... Not a pretty sight. This also includes the UPSes built into an outlet strip.

Power Restrictions
The events Power Management is planned in advance and strickly enforced. This is enough power for your computer & monitor. But it IS NOT enough for extra equipment. For example: No Powered Speakers, External Fans, Air Conditioners, Heaters, Televisions, Microwaves, Refrigerators, Lava Lamps, VCRs, Shop Vacs, or Tanning beds etc. If we find them, we will confisicate them. p.s. I could always use an extra DVD player for my kitchen.
